Hello again, My old Friend.

It's been far too long since I've even thought about posting here. As I'm sure most of you understand, life has been hectic and emotional and I don't even feel like I've had time to process most of it, let alone trying to post about it.

Today was a day for reflecting on new-found love in my life. Out with the old, in with the new. Transition, and of course change. What could be more appropriate than spending the day out in nature watching the beautiful world do the exact same thing. It was a beautiful day.

I have so much love in my heart for Aspen trees. They remind me of the beautiful paintings of Aspens by my Aunt Lynn. I love the sound they make with wind rushing through their leaves. I love the contrasting black and white bark.

I love finding the one lone red tree, standing out amongst all the gold and green.

Autumn Colors

My favorite Leaf of the day matched my shirt perfectly.

Even the view from my car window was spectacular.

Fall is the perfect season for falling in love. Creating new memories. Cooking comfort foods, drinking warm spiced drinks, and snuggling up with a blanket and a fire. Can you tell Fall is my Favorite? :)

explosions in the sky

last night i had the craziest dream.

i dreamed that i was standing outside of my house, looking up at the stars. they were bright and beautiful and they seemed to have tripled in number. suddenly two planes, flying parallel flew over head. they seemed too low for commercial jets and moving much too fast, like they were racing. one plane started to curve inward, toward the other, and then the engine exploded. it came roaring back down to earth and right into my neighbors house. there was fire everywhere, and i vaguely heard the windows of my own house burst out of their frames. i felt something hot and thick trickling down the side of my face, and i realized that my ears were bleeding.

then i woke up.

i swear i always have these scary, intense, apocalyptic, nightmarish type dreams. always.

tell me what you last dreamed about.

4.

4 is a poem I wrote a few years ago and it seemed rather appropriate for the rainy day. Enjoy!

4.
ode to a beautiful sadness, filled up
simply with rain water. oh, that i were
the pavement runoff, so feeling of everything
yet lacking vitals. pain & breaking experienced.
oh ode to the beautiful rain, the cold so
milky on our little toes, just a price to pay to feel.
nothing but a midnight hour, your face still
charming after tire & my fatigued words.
what a headache. not beautiful like rain, i am
beautiful like the asphalt, a crooked grin
to see you smile. slightly damaged. how i must drag & wear,
wronged by example! no. hard rain wears, not
this gentle kind. this is simply a dull reminder,
ebbing at our throats & our feet that june gets
cold too. but rain will still kiss the asphalt
like a miracle.
the same miracle that keeps
you kissing me.

Dammit. (Explicit. What can I say? I'm pissed.)

Worst Esthetician Award EVER goes to:
Well, actually probably that woman who's Botoxing her 8 year old.

But second, most definitely is: ME!!

Though my camera phone is doing no justice to the lovely shade of RED that surrounds my awesome tan lines, do not be fooled. I do not tan. That is a cranberry-colored wound on my back form where I allowed myself to be sun-raped.

Don't even worry that an hour and a half before this picture was taken I was giving Ben a hard time about not putting sunscreen on his face. "My nose isn't gonna get burned because I have SPF!" That's what I get for being an asshole I guess.

In case you were wondering, Ben also took a heavy beating but already today his has begun to fade into a nice shade of Mexican.

Eye Candy: Chris Hemsworth

Yesterday Ben & I went and saw Thor.

It was surprisingly very entertaining. It was a little special-effects heavy, which I think cheapened it and was a little cheesy. But the movie was actually hilarious- we laughed out loud on several occasions!

Let's be honest though- the real reason why this movie was awesome is
because of the hero: Chris Hemsworth. Uhm... hello? Is he not the most gorgeous man ever?!

I read his article in this month's Men's Health and he said he got so big he outgrew his costume. Is it even possible for a guy to get bigger than that? He is MASSIVE. And I'm not even a muscle-loving kind of girl. One look at these pictures and you'll understand.

Seriously ladies, let your men take you to see Thor. You won't be sorry.

Kick-ass Product of the Month: Beautifying Composition

For those of you who don't know, I've spent the last 2 years as an esthetician at a marvelous Aveda salon and spa here in Utah.

I realize times are tough for everyone right now, myself included. So I like to promote products that are multi-functional. I for one know how much I love getting more bang for your buck.

Which is why I am happy to let everyone know about my all-time favorite Aveda product:

The Beautifying Composition.

This little gem serves many purposes. For one, we use it in facials as a pre-cleanse. It helps soften up the skin, loosening dirt, oils, and make-up for a deeper clean. But for every day use, here are a few reasons why this product kicks ass:

  • After exfoliating areas prone to stretch marks & cellulite (ahem, thighs. Hips. Bum.) rub a little Beautifying composition into the skin. It helps to reduce appearance of what you've already got and prevents more from appearing in the future. Seriously.

  • Use it in your hair as a deep condition.

  • Warm it up and use it as an at-home hot oil scalp treatment. (Professional salon price can be up to $60... yikes)

  • Feeling especially dry after a day at the beach or in mid-winter miserableness? Use it as an ultra-hydrating facial moisturizer before bed. (Acne prone? Doesn't matter. This includes you too).

  • Skip the drying bath salts or bubbles. Pour 1-2 capfuls into your tub for instantly smooth skin, all over.

  • Dab a little onto a cotton pad and use it to remove any eye makeup, from smoky eyeshadow to stubborn waterproof mascara.

  • Having trouble sleeping? Rub a little into your temples before bed and let the soothing organic lavendar scent help relax you.

Seriously people, need I go on? Last but not least, a bottle is incredibly affordable- $20 for a 50 ml bottle. And to say a little goes a looong way is putting it lightly.

Although I obviously love Aveda, my skin-care policy is this: If it works for you, keep using it. Yep, even the $6 bottle of Neutrogena from Wal-Mart. Because everyone's skin is different, and what may work for someone else may not work for you.

That's all for now, but please feel free to e-mail me with any skin-care questions you may have. :)
